Calculation Examples

When selecting a brake, certain parameters are used. These parameters are listed below. The required torque is calculated, and the brake size is selected. In cases where the operating frequency is high, the thermal load is calculated and checked using the "Friction Energy and Operating Frequency" diagram.

If Motor Power and Speed Are Known Md:

 Md[Nm] : Torque
N [kW] : Power
n [rpm] : Rotational speed

or

 Md[Nm] : Torque
P [hp] : Power
n [rpm] : Rotational speed

When Torque Md Is Multiplied by Safety Factor SK, It Becomes MG:

MG [Nm] : Required torque
N [kW] : Power
n [rpm] : Rotational speed
SK : Safety factor
Example Calculation:
Assume a motor power of 3 kW and a rotational speed of 1500 rpm. If we take the safety factor as 2:

According to this torque value (38.2 Nm), the DYF04 brake size is selected from the brake selection table.

or

MG [Nm] : Required torque
P [hp] : Power
n [rpm] : Rotational speed
SK : Safety factor
MK [Nm] : Brake torque
Example Calculation:
Assume a motor power of 4 hp and a rotational speed of 1500 rpm. If we take the safety factor as 2:

According to this torque value (38.2 Nm), the DYF04 brake size is selected from the brake selection table.

Thermal Load

QT [J] : Friction energy
J [kgm²] : Mass moment of inertia
n [rpm] : Rotational speed
Mb [Nm] : Static load torque
MK [Nm] : Brake torque
